TORONTO — Drake, who has been rooting fiercely against the Golden State Warriors throughout the NBA Finals, struck a somber tone after Game 5.
He paid tribute to Kevin Durant after the Warriors star suffered an Achilles injury during the second quarter of Golden State’s 106-105 victory over the Toronto Raptors.
“Was tough for any of us to even enjoy that game tonight after seeing this transpire,’’ Drake wrote on his Instagram account after the game. “Praying for our brother. That’s my only concern tonight is your well being. 'The game needs me' is an understatement when it comes to 35. Please wish the best for this true warrior.’’

Accompanying the post was a photo of a smiling Durant wearing a hoodie emblazoned with the words, “Been Through The Fire.’’
The post received more than 1 million "likes'' as of Tuesday afternoon, nine hours after it was posted, including from the verified accounts of actor Mark Wahlberg and Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns.
Durant is scheduled to undergo an MRI exam on Tuesday, but the fear is that he tore his Achilles.
