Manchester United and Mario Mandzukic have a verbal agreement in place over a transfer in January, reports say.
Juventus have also ordered Ed Woodward to cough up £10m for the Croatian, who has been ostracised from the squad.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was keen on the Red Devils signing a new striker in the summer after Romelu Lukaku was allowed to leave for Inter Milan.
A move for Mandzukic was planned but time ran out, leaving Marcus Rashford as the only recognised striker at the club.
The young forward has struggled with the responsibilities this season as United's season has taken a nosedive.
The Red Devils are two points above the relegation zone and have scored more than once in just one game.
But the Express have reported that a verbal agreement has been put in place over the signing of Mandzukic to the club in January.

Furthermore, United will have to play £10m to take the 33-year-old onboard.
The ex-Bayern Munich hitman is only being touted for a short-term role, while he would bring a wealth of experience that is lacking at the club at the moment.
Maurizio Sarri has kept Mandzukic out of the first-team completely this season.
Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain are ahead of the veteran forward in the pecking order.
And United are looking to pry on this by snapping up the former Atletico Madrid star as soon as possible.

It comes as part of a plan from club chiefs to back Solskjaer during a difficult period.
There had been rumours that the Norweigan could be sacked if results do not improve quickly.
