Dwayne Bravo praised Chennai Super Kings’ bowling attack after MS Dhoni’s team beat Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Indian Premier League.
2019 runners-up Chennai clinched a vital 20-run victory over the Sunrisers in Dubai on Tuesday to climb to joint-fifth in the IPL table.
Shane Watson (42), Ambati Rayudu (41), Sam Curran (31) and Ravindra Jadeja (25* off 10 balls) made contributions with the bat as Chennai posted 167-6.
Hyderabad then fell 20 runs short of victory with Bravo and Karn Sharma taking two wickets apiece for Chennai and Deepak Chahar, Curran, Jadeja and Shardul Thakur also impressing with the ball.
West Indies all-rounder Bravo, who bowled the final over, said: ‘I enjoy these moments in the game, but I’ve got to give Shardul most of the credit, his over made the difference.
‘Jadeja with the ball as well, and Karn Sharma and Chahar. When you have to defend 160 the powerplay is crucial.
‘At the end of the day, we break the tournament down to a mini-tournament. This game for sure was important, to get the win and to get some confidence in the group.’
Man of the Match, India all-rounder Jadeja, added: ‘I’m very happy. When the team’s under pressure and you perform with bat and ball, you feel happy.
‘I kept backing myself, nothing pre-planned. Just watch the ball and hit it.
‘The wicket looked on the slower side, so I just looked to bowl at the stumps rather than give them room. It was a difficult wicket for batsmen, you couldn’t hit through the line.
‘I take great pleasure in fielding and always try and get catches and run-outs for the team so today was fun.’
Chennai Super Kings will look to make it back-to-back wins on Saturday when they face in-form Delhi Capitals, while Sunrisers Hyderabad face Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday.
