When the rest of the world thinks about Australia, beer and cricket would come up very high on the list.

In the 16th over, the Hurricanes were trying to get the scorecard ticking over with some lusty blows when the World’s No. 1 T20 batsman looped a big catch into the crowd, having just brought up his first BBL 50.

It went straight to a young family and while it went through the hands of one man, it was bunted into the beer of the man sitting next to him.

The young boy in front of him got the fright of his life and immediately burst into tears.

“It landed in the cup,” Mark Waugh said before the man went to drink out of the beer with the ball in it. “What is he doing?”

The commentators were laughing at the antics with Brendan Julian added: “What about the COVID? He doesn’t want to touch it. You can’t give it back without the beer.”

The man and the kids were enjoying it as well as the man threw the ball back but it had to be changed out regardless.

“Geez good catch if he caught it in the cup,” Brad Haddin said.

On the field, Malan finally hit his straps.

He ended up on a 56-ball 75 to finally get going as the World’s No. 1 T20 batsman got going.

It was an impressive performance considering Mark Waugh believes he didn’t appear to be hitting the ball that well, despite hitting seven fours and three sixes to hit the Hurricanes to 5/164.
