Boxpark CEO backs Julius Francis after boxer-turned-bouncer one-punch KOs punter

Julius Francis, a former British boxing champion and one-time opponent of Mike Tyson, has received the full backing of BOXPARK CEO Roger Wade after he delivered a one-punch knock-out to a rowdy punter in his role as a security guard.

The 57-year-old, who took on Tyson in 2000 and also faced off against Vitali Klitschko and Audley Harrison, now works as a minder for the Wembley entertainment venue – as he was on on June 13.

In the clip that went viral, a troublemaker was heard shouting "f**k you!" and "I’ll f**k you up!” as he shoves multiple people outside the venue. With security trying to move him away from their fences, he turned around to raise his fists at Francis before the former boxer landed a right hook that knocked him clean out.

Wade has now said that the man had to be stopped from abusing, spitting and hitting customers and staff before backing Francis.

Wade wrote: "Woke up to a viral story about one of our security team. Julius Francis, is ex UK heavyweight boxing champion, he is one of the nicest people I have ever met and helps train young underprivileged kids boxing in his spare time.

"My understanding is that Julius and our security team spent 15 minutes stopping this man and his friends from abusing, spitting and hitting our customers and staff.

"They carefully escorted him from the premises under constant provocation and violence. Finally the person approached Julius in a confrontational manner and he defended himself.

"Acts of violence or abuse to any staff members should never be tolerated. How would you react if someone approached you violently? What would you do next if you were in my shoes?"

And accompanied his message with the hashtag: #istandwithjulius.

One fan has said in response to Wade: "Love it, Roger – love it! I completely support Julius, and any security guard who is placed in this situation."

With a second saying: "Stand by Julius as he will really need yours and the teams support as these muppets will return."

With a third adding: "Totally agree. Pre emptive strike in self defence all day long."
