Offbeat news from the world of sport
Jake Paul has announced his return to boxing and is set to step back in the ring on August 13, though his opponent hasn't been named.
The YouTuber-turned-fighter, who is set to make his sixth professional appearance between the ropes – having won all of his previous five bouts – announced the plans via social media this evening. He posted a short clip featuring the date of the fight and a ring announcer's voice, along with the caption: "I'm back. August 13th."
Rumours are circling that former UFC world champion Anderson Silva could be his next challenger, though there are also whispers that his match against Tommy Fury – which was initially set for December last year – may have finally been rescheduled.
Fury pulled out of the fight days before due to a rib injury he sustained during training, which saw former MMA star Tyron Woodley step in as his replacement.
Having beaten Woodley via split decision in August, Paul beat him again, this time via brutal knockout in the sixth round.

Ever since the 25-year-old has been focusing on promoting stablemate Amanda Serrano's clash with Katie Taylor, helping to secure the Puerto Rican fighter a seven-figure purse. Serrano was narrowly beaten by Taylor on Saturday night following an epic back-and-forth in Maddison Square Garden.
Paul made his boxing debut in 2020 when he stopped fellow social media star AnEsonGib before he knocked out former basketball player Nate Robinson. The 25-year-old then turned his attention to retired MMA star Ben Askren, who was beaten comfortably.
Other than Silva and Fury, former UFC star Michael Bisping as well as former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson have been suggested as possible opponents for Paul, though both seem highly unlikely at this point.
