Lennox Lewis has slammed Jake Paul’s win over Ben Askren as ‘farcical’ after going off on furious Twitter rant over the state of his ‘beloved’ sport.
The British heavyweight legend took aim at the American YouTuber for ‘pretending’ to be a professional boxer and has warned that it will be a ‘recipe for disaster’ if someone involved in one of these fights got seriously hurt.
The 55-year-old took to Twitter to vent his fury at Paul’s win over retired UFC welterweight Askren last month to make it three straight wins in the ring.

Reports has since emerged that Triller – who hosted the fight – are now suing illegal streamers for £72million ($100m), which Lewis claimed was inevitable given the target audience of those watching the fight.
When referencing an article about Triller suing, Lewis wrote: ‘What did they expect?
‘The majority of the marketing was on social media targeting teenagers. Do teenagers really have $50 for PPV?’
One Twitter fan jumped in on the debate and said that YouTubers fighting professional boxers would be ‘ridiculous’, Lewis responded: ‘Name one youtuber that has faced a professional boxer?’
When reminded that Paul holds a professional boxing license, Lewis took aim at the fight again.

He tweeted: ‘Now we are getting to the root of the problem. Licensed as a professional boxer with a record of NOT fighting a boxer. This is the farce not my beloved boxing.’
After going off on the money-spinning fights which involve Paul, Lewis claimed that a YouTuber or ‘pretend’ boxer could get seriously hurt one day, which would be a ‘recipe for disaster’ for the sport.
He wrote: ‘Anyone can get a license doesn’t mean they are boxer with skills. Recipe for disaster when someone gets hurt.’
Paul has been calling out a whole host of MMA stars to face him inside the squared circle, while promising them a massive payday if they choose to do so.
UFC welterweight Colby Covington has been the latest big name to hit out at the controversial online personality after he accused the YouTuber of being a ‘snake’ and ‘a nobody’.
Covington is now the latest to have taken aim at him by playing down his credentials and insisting he would beat Paul if the two ever faced off.
‘Everything that’s going on with him is hilarious,’ Covington said on the latest episode of What the Heck.
‘This guy’s an amateur. “Snake Paul” is literally a bum. He’s a Disney, YouTube star.

‘He’s not a real fighter, he’s an amateur, he’s a nobody. I’d literally smack the pubes off his face.
‘What I make of him is he’s just looking to get hype and build himself up as a real fighter.
