Tommy Fury responds after Jake Paul gives him "24 hours to fix" bout agreement

Offbeat news from the world of sport

Tommy Fury has hit back at Jake Paul after the YouTuber turned boxer went on a furious rant over their failure to agree on fight terms – while laying the blame at the door of his rival.

The 25-year-old former Disney actor alleged on Instagram that the former Love Island star was delaying the agreement because he didn't want to fight without his father John at Madison Square Garden due to his ban on entering the country.

Fury has now hit back with an allegation over drug test requirements, confirming that the bout will go ahead in less than two months time despite the disagreements.

Fury tweeted: "The fight is on. August 6th. Forget a team or any other bull****. I don’t need anybody to help me lay you flat on that canvas.

"Oh and thanks for finally signing the drug testing… you only agreed to it when you realised the fight was at risk – who needs who."

The pair had been scheduled to fight back in December before Fury's withdrawal through illness, with Paul going on to knockout Tyron Woodley in their rematch.

Alongside the caption 'Tommy Fury you should be ashamed of yourself. You have 24 hours to fix this or you’ll never see this opportunity again.' Paul said on Wednesday (June 22): "What’s the excuse? 'Oh I can’t come and I can’t do it because my dad can’t be there with me during the fight. Tommy, your dad has been banned from the United States for 15 years.

"You’ve known this the whole entire time. He’s a criminal. He’s not allowed in.

"When you fought Anthony Taylor in Cleveland, neither Tyson [Fury] or your dad were there with you in your U.S. debut. Now all of a sudden you need your team with you?

"That doesn’t make any f****** sense. I will agree to not have my team around me during the fight week. I will agree to not fight with my coaches in my corner.

"We can both fight solo just like Devin Haney was going to do against George Kambosos. This is what real boxers do. This is what real boxers are and they make fights f****** happen.

"You are scared and you claim that you are a professional boxer and you don't want to make a fight with me who you have talked so much s*** about. Where is that s*** talk now Tommy?"
