3km to go: No he isn’t. Caleb Ewan’s Lotto-Soudal team set off after the leaders with three and half kilometres to go and Wout van Aert drops away to let them go.

The leaders hit the final little climb as the peloton closes the gap under 10 seconds.

5km to go: Wout van Aert doesn’t look overly concerned as he leads the peloton around a couple of roundabouts whilst cutting the gap to nine seconds.

He’s going to let fly at the 3km mark.

7km to go: Wout van Aert has moved to the top of the peloton and seems to be thinking about safety first. He’s setting a steady pace for Jonas Vingegaard to marshall him to the 3km mark where the yellow jersey holde won’t lose any time in the GC.

The gap to the breakaway has gone out to 15 seconds. How will this stage end?

10km to go: Inside the final 10km and the gap to the leading trio is just 20 seconds. That’s a long way to go with such a narrow lead. Wright, Stuyven, and Gougeard are giving it their all but they won’t be able to get to the end.

There’s going to be a sprint finish.
