Peter Moody was forced to scratch Glenfiddich from Saturday’s Group 1 Caulfield Guineas

Stutt Stakes winner Glenfiddich is out of Saturday’s Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m).

Glenfiddich was one of the main fancies for the $2 million Caulfield Guineas but a throat problem has forced the valuable colt’s scratching.

Glenfiddich’s trainer Peter Moody said the son of Fastnet Rock has developed an entrapped epiglottis, which would require minor surgery.

The problem would also rule the colt out of tackling the Cox Plate.

Moody did not rule out running Glenfiddich in the Group 1 Coolmore Stakes on Victoria Derby day but said spelling the three-year-old before an autumn campaign was a more realistic option.

TAB tightened Ole Kirk’s quote into $4 after Glenfiddich’s scratching on Tuesday afternoon.

The unbeaten Mo’unga is the $4.80 second pick ahead of the Blue Diamond Stakes winner Tagaloa at $5.
