Raceday focus: Best bets, analysis for Pakenham Synthetic on Friday

Herald Sun form analyst Brad Waters runs the rule over Friday’s card on the Pakenham Synthetic track.

HELJAMI (Race 8 No. 2 – $3.80)

Heljami drifted in betting but charged home to score on this track last time out. She loves the synthetic and she’ll be hard to hold out again.

SO FAR AWAY (Race 5 No. 5 – $5)

So Far Away makes his debut for the Matt Laurie stable at Pakenham after a good jumpout win at Mornington. She drops in class for this and should be thereabouts.

PROSECUTOR (Race 6 No. 9 – $4.40)

Prosecutor relished the synthetic track when an easy winner at Pakenham second-up. He’s consistent and will be one of the hardest to beat.

KERMY (Race 7 No. 4 – $3.20)

Kermy chased home the smart Riot And Rose, who won again at Caulfield last week, and should find this easier. He’ll bounce back to winning form on Friday.

YESUGEI (Race 1 No. 11 – $8.50)

Yesugei has had a month off since a fair effort over a longer trip. He’s back sharply in trip for this but he has the ability to be a factor in the first at Pakenham.

Apprentice Josh Richards is doing a great job with his 3kg claim at the moment and punters can capitalise on his form on Friday. ALL TOO TOUGH (Race 1 No. 1 – $8.50), ELEGANT LAD (Race 4 No. 14 – $19), TREAD SOFTLY (Race 5 No. 1 – $2.50), TORBRECK (Race 6 No. 5 – $4.20), HELJAMI (Race 8 No. 2 – $3.80).

Saturday’s meetings will be at Flemington and Bendigo. Bairnsdale and Geelong will be the venues for Sunday’s provincial cards. Ballarat will race on the synthetic track on Monday before the synthetic theme continues on Tuesday at Pakenham.
