Raceday focus: Best bets, analysis for Sale on Friday

Herald Sun form analyst Brad Waters runs the rule over Friday’s card at Sale.

SECRET PALACE (R5 No. 3 – $2.50)

The Alexander Rae-trained Secret Palace was a strong winner of his maiden at Sale two starts back before a sound effort when a huge betting drifter at Moe last time. Expecting him to bounce back to winning form.

THE AWESOME SON (R4 No. 12 – $1.75)

Would like to see his price get out a touch from his odds-on quote but The Awesome Son ran on well on debut at Bendigo and looks well suited by the step to 1600m for his second start.

FRISSON (Race 6 No. 3 – $8.50)

The Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra camp is sending out plenty of winners at the moment and Frisson could add to that run at Sale. He wasn’t far away first-up last time in and improved with racing so more time off will have done him wonders.

SILVER LAKE (R8 No. 13 – $7.50)

Silver Lake has drawn wide but it might be the place to be come the last race. She went well at her Australian debut at Wangaratta and will only be improved for her Sale assignment.

SISTER VIANNEY (R1 No. 14 – $9.50)

Sister Vianney never got a crack at them on debut before chasing well in a good form race at Cranbourne. Expect her to be hard to hold out again at Sale.

Brett Prebble is riding in great form with five wins from his last nine rides so he will make the trip to Sale full of confidence. GULF OF OMAN (Race 1 No. 2 – $14), ALL THIS MAYHEM (Race 3 No. 9 – $5.50), APRES LA MER (Race 6 No. 6 – $2.50), HOT REWARD (Race 7 No. 6 – $3.80).

Caulfield will hold the Sir John Monash Stakes meeting on Saturday while they also race on the Pakenham Synthetic track. Wodonga and Ballarat will be the scene of Sunday’s racing with Murtoa racing on Monday. The circuit returns to Ballarat for a synthetic meeting on Tuesday before Wednesday’s Sandown Hillside fixture.
