RANDWICK

Track: Heavy 9. Rail: +9m

R1: SCHWEPPES HANDICAP (1400M)

Overview: This looks a nice race for Honeycreeper and she was super against the older horses last start. The step up to 1400m suits and she looks hard to hold out here. War Eternal steps up sharply in trip but he was good behind Dragonstone last start on the home track. Miss In Charge won well at Canterbury last start and has claims as well.

BETTING ADVICE: Honeycreeper to win.

R2: TAB HIGHWAY (1200M)

Overview: Anethole had no luck at all in a TAB Highway a few weeks back and gets another opportunity here. Private Agent has the best form for this but he is off a long break and his trials have been mixed. Artie’s Aura trialled well leading in and the stable have a tremendous fresh record with their horses, while Cavalier Charles has claims if he gets a run.

Advice: Leaning to Anethole.

R3: THE AGENCY REAL ESTATE HANDICAP (1200M)

Overview: Open race. Fastconi hit the line well last start and the step up in trip shouldn’t bother him. Vreneli will be fitter after sticking on well fresh, while Kinloch should be running on strongly late and he finds James McDonald here. Diamonds’n’stones can also run a cheeky race fresh with a view to the future.

BETTING ADVICE: Fastconi to win.

R4: CITY TATTERSALLS CLUB HANDICAP (1800M)

Overview: La Chevalee picks herself here and the step up to 1800m and the booking of James McDonald both look positives. She was good from a wide draw last start and should have won two back. Badoosh looks the danger at double figures and he wasn’t far off Le Chevalee last start and did win fourth up at 1800m last prep. Zing will have her admirers but I’m happy to take her on here.

Advice: La Chevalee to win and something small on Badoosh.

R5: ELITE SAND & SOIL HANDICAP (1600M)

Overview: Criminal Code gets a chance to bounce back here and he pulled up lame when wide second up. His fresh run was outstanding prior to that. Bring Me The Ransom was a strong winner last start although that was bias assisted on the Kenso track. Papal Warrior just has to take his Rosehill form to Randwick and he also has each-way claims.

BETTING ADVICE: Criminal Code on top.

R6: MIDWAY HANDICAP (1200M)

Overview: Just Field was luckless in a Midway last start and her form prior was outstanding for a race like this. She just needs to run out 1200m. Henschel beat a subsequent winner in style last start but can mix his form, while Wander was good late fresh and should be fitter here.

BETTING ADVICE: Just Field to win.

R7: ACY SECURITIES HANDICAP (1800M)

Overview: Open race and I’m happy to speck Ballet Master at the odds. He was a big winner at Caulfield last start and did win at Randwick last year. Opacity will appreciate getting back to Randwick, while Great House and Steely have each-way claims. Great House does look a bit short in early betting though.

BETTING ADVICE: Ballet Master at the odds.

R8: BOWERMANS COMMERCIAL FURNITURE HANDICAP (1400M)

Overview: Blondeau finally draws a gate and he is a horse that enjoys a soft run before presenting at the 300m mark. He gets that set up here. Itz Lily is a good wet tracker and fresh is best for her. She also finds James McDonald. Oscar Zulu is flying but had all the favours last start, while Surf Dancer must be respected.

BETTING ADVICE: Not much between Blondeau and Itz Lily.

R9: TAX TODAY HANDICAP (1400M)

Overview: Steel Diamond was too bad to be true second up and even though she comes out of a poor form race fresh, I don’t mind her set up here on wet ground. Expat is going great guns but there’s more pressure on speed here and all her form is at Rosehill. Fortune Seeker can improve second up, while Eight Diamonds is on the up here.

BETTING ADVICE: Steel Diamond at the odds.

R10: HEINEKEN HANDICAP (1000M)

Overview: Irish Angel has been outstanding in two runs back and I think she will adapt back to 1000m better than a lot of these. The Bopper is likely to give them a start but should be strong late, while Nikohli Beagle and Best Stone should also have admirers.

BETTING ADVICE: Irish Angel to win.
