A bone spur in Jake Arrieta’s pitching elbow is threatening to shut the veteran down for the season.
The Phillies ace allowed five earned runs and seven hits in three innings against the Giants Sunday night, which contributed to a 9-6 loss.
“It hurts every day,” Arrieta said, via The Philadelphia Inquirer. “I just wasn’t able to get through my share of the outing and preserve the lead.”
When asked if he was going to keep pitching this season, Arrieta said he didn’t know and would have to talk to the team about his situation Tuesday.
