Conor McGregor would put Justin Gaethje "to sleep" if the rivals ever clash in the UFC.
The Irishman makes his long-awaited return to the cage on Saturday week when he takes on 50-fight veteran Donald Cerrone in Las Vegas.
McGregor had been linked with a clash with lightweight rival Gaethje before opting to take on Cerrone at welterweight.
And should the pair meet down the line, coach John Kavanagh believes the result would be conclusive – and concussive.
"Just to look at Gaethje as an opponent;very good competitor, hard hitter, comes forward, lot of pressure, exciting fighter," Kavanagh told The Mac Life.
"Him matched up against Conor at some stage would be fantastic. I think that would be a great fight. I think the fans would love it.
"I think stylistically it suits Conor. Conor uses a huge amount of pressure, but I think he’s actually better countering.
"But he doesn't counter like most counter fighters by just staying out of range and moving backwards, [an] enormous amount of pressure, gets a reaction, puts you to sleep.
"I think that’s what would happen in a Justin fight, considering how he fights. That being said, solid competitor and it'd be a great fight."
McGregor plans to fight three times this year and is open to taking on Gaethje as a route to another shot at the 155lb title.
"Me and Donald have had a history and I have said I'd fight him," he told The Mac Life.
"If you look at the list of people I've called out and engaged with, Donald was probably one of the first ones. He's first on the list, I'll get to every single one of them also.
"I'll have a good solid camp at 170 with no weight cut, a good fight; I know Donald is a good fighter, he has great records, the most knockdowns, the most head kicks, the most fights, most rounds… he has a lot of UFC records under his belt.
"I'll get a great camp, a great fight and it will take me into the year. I'm looking at this as a season so it's the beginning of the season.
"Donald was the first fight I agreed to have a fight with."
"Justin is also on the list, maybe I will face him next. He has it coming, he's a funny guy; he's been taking it to heart and i know the feeling thwne you do that.
"Mayble I'll go through Donald and have a quick turnaround against Justin, but he's on the list, no doubt."
