Dina Asher-Smith features on the SPOTY shortlist following her exploits at this year’s World Athletics Championships. The sprinter won gold in the 200 metres also claimed silver medals in the 100m and the 4x100m relay. In doing so, she became the first British woman to win a major global sprint title.
“Normally I am so chatty and full of energy, but I am lost for words,” she said at the time.
“Everybody keeps saying world champion, world title, but it hasn’t sunk in and honestly I don’t think it ever will.
“I have dreamed of this and now it’s real.”
Who is Dina Asher-Smith dating?
Asher-Smith appears to be single at the moment.
She was previously in a relationship with fellow British sprinter Zharnel Hughes.
However, the couple split up last year prior to the Commonwealth Games.
Hughes was a training partner of eight-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt until the Jamaican’s retirement.
Asher-Smith denied the break-up with Hughes would be a distraction ahead of the Games and found it “hilarious” the media were interested in her love life.

Speaking about her ex-boyfriend in 2018, she said: “We are fine, we are still friends.
“I won’t go into the details because that is personal life but we are cool, absolutely fine.
“I am not a celebrity so I didn’t think it was that much of a big deal to be in the papers.
“It is hilarious that people care if I have a boyfriend. I can’t wait to tell him.”
At the Commonwealth Games that year, Hughes won the 200m event but was later stripped of the victory when replays showed his flailing arm crossing into a neighbouring lane and impeding an opponent.
Asher-Smith had won bronze in the women’s 200m earlier that day.
Reacting to Hughes’ disqualification, she said: “I know how much this meant to him.
“But at the end of the day he is in great shape and that is what you have to take away from it.”
