Kyle Kuzma wasn’t mincing words after the Lakers fell to the Suns on Saturday, marking their fourth loss in five games.
The forward said after the 118-109 defeat that there is something wrong with his team, though he’s not sure how to help Los Angeles turn around a lost season.
When asked how the Lakers will rebound from another loss, he simply said: “I’m honestly not even sure. Obviously there’s something wrong with this team. It’s up to us to try to fix it.”
“Lost to a team we should’ve beat. That’s the most frustrating thing,” Kuzma told reporters, adding, “I think it’s more defense, but being together as a whole, playing for one another, having each other’s backs, I think it’s more of that type of stuff.”
LeBron James rues missed opportunities in shocking Suns loss
The Lakers have been struggling since Christmas Day when they lost star LeBron James for several weeks to a groin injury. While he has returned, Los Angeles has been 10-19 since Dec. 25. The team came out of the All-Star break with an impressive 111-106 win over the Rockets, but have fallen to 2-4 since the break.
Saturday’s loss hurt the Lakers’ chances of making it to the playoffs even more as they are now 30-33 and 10th in the Western Conference standings. They are 4 1/2 games back from the eighth-ranked Clippers.
