WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin says Mike Tyson "pushed the s*** out of him"

WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin has revealed that Mike Tyson "pushed the s*** out of him" during a heated segment on Monday Night Raw back in 1998.

As part of the storyline heading into WrestleMania 14, Iron Mike had agreed to be the 'special outside enforcer' (a second referee basically) for Austin's world championship match against 'The Heartbreak Kid' Shawn Michaels.

During the late 90s, professional wrestling was at its cultural zenith, and Stone Cold had become the undisputed face of the industry.

Tyson – who was suspended from boxing at the time – aligned himself with Michaels after The Texas Rattlesnake got in his face and flipped him off in one of the most iconic WWE moments of all time.

During a recent interview, Austin claimed that he and Tyson were pretty much working without a script that night, and says the brawl that ensued was more-or-less ad-libbed.

"I didn’t know what Mike was going to say. I kind of had the broad points about it. But, it was just a deal where Mike went out and said what he said and I got in his face and flipped him off," Austin said.

"He had to push the s*** out of me because if he just barely pushed me, he’d look like a punk. So, he pushed the s*** out of me."

The six-time WWE Champion insists he was desperate to shove Tyson back, but was quickly restrained by half-a-dozen overseers who were there to make sure things didn't get out of hand.

Good thing too as dozens of $100 bills apparently flew out of the boxer's pockets during the scuffle.

"If you watch that footage back, you can't see it very good, but I don't know where Mike Tyson was going after he worked Monday Night Raw that night, but there were hundred dollar bills that just exploded out of all his pockets, and all of his handlers were trying to pick them up," Austin added.

A few weeks later at WrestleMania, Tyson turned on Michaels, levelling him with a stiff right hand, and even counted the pin to crown Austin the new heavyweight champion of the world – officially kicking off what would become known as the 'Attitude Era' of wrestling.
