Herm Edwards’ Arizona State football team is picked to finish third in the Pac-12 South in 2019, and if the Sun Devils are going to do that – or better – then they’ll likely do it with a true freshman at quarterback.
Edwards on Monday named Jayden Daniels the starter, making him the first true freshman to start at quarterback at Arizona State, according to the Arizona Republic. His backup will be another true freshman: Joey Yellen.
“It says a lot about him and his ability right now to do some things we feel real good about,” Edwards said of Daniels. “That’s how we’re going to roll.”
It’s how Daniels has rolled since he was a freshman at Cajon High School in San Bernardino, California, and was named starting varsity QB.
