Twitter can’t handle Jeremy Pruitt’s face covering in Tennessee-Georgia game

The Vols’ head coach turned heads Saturday not only for his 14th-ranked team’s play on the field against Georgia, but also because of the . . . peculiar way he wore his face covering, which was necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic. According to a memo issued by the SEC, schools with coaches or staff who fail to wear masks on the sideline will be fined $100,000 for each instance of noncompliance.

Pruitt seems to have taken that warning to heart, as evidenced by this face covering:

And, hey, it even matches Tennessee’s iconic checkerboard end zones. While it’s easy to poke fun at Pruitt’s unorthodox face covering, at least he’s taking coronavirus protocols seriously (at least, when his mask actually covered his mouth and nose).

Pruitt’s unique look prompted quite a response from Twitter, which couldn’t quite believe what it was seeing:
