“Monday Night Football” has largely been a divisional affair during the 2021 NFL season. Week 4 will mark the third consecutive week that two interdivisional rivals will square off in a key game. The only one that didn’t feature divisional opponents was the Week 1 Raiders vs. Ravens contest.
The two teams playing in Week 4’s “Monday Night Football” game hail from the AFC West. They have a combined record of 5-1, and the winner will have a chance to be atop the division by the end of Monday night.
Neither of the teams in question is the Chiefs, but the Chargers, who just knocked off Kansas City, will be hosting the Monday night contest. It will take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. They’ll hope to deal the Raiders their first loss of the 2021 NFL season.
Here is everything to know about ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” game for Week 4, including the kickoff time and more.
Who plays on ‘Monday Night Football’ tonight?
The Chargers will take on the Raiders on “Monday Night Football” in Week 4. The Chargers are 2-1 on the season and are coming off a 30-24 win over the Chiefs in Kansas City. They are close to being 3-0 on the season, and may have been tied atop the division with the Raiders and Broncos if not for several silly mistakes against the Cowboys.
Speaking of the Raiders, they are one of the biggest surprises in the NFL this season. They have started by beating two playoff teams — the Ravens and Steelers — and the Dolphins, a team that they lost to last season down the stretch.
Both quarterbacks in this game have played well this season. Justin Herbert has 956 passing yards and just threw for four touchdowns against the Chiefs. Derek Carr leads the NFL in passing with 1,203 yards. He has thrown for at least 382 yards in each of his three games this season. They will put on a show for viewers, as each defense has some holes that can be exploited.
The winner of this game will sit either in a tie for second place of the AFC West or in a tie for first place. The Raiders could also stand alone in first place if they win and the Broncos lose against the Ravens. Needless to say, this is an important game, especially with the Chiefs struggling out of the gate.
