As NFL DFS continues into Week 9, our strategy is fully fleshed out. While pricing is tighter and thus makes decisions more difficult in daily fantasy football, our Yahoo cash game lineup for this week looks pretty solid. We have a bunch of high-volume producers in our lineup, and despite the six teams that are on bye this week, there’s enough differentiation in our lineup to make it a true contender. So, we’re playing it safe while also avoiding just taking chalk options.
We put together this week’s lineup in just about the most classic way possible. There’s one stack at QB-WR that is targeting a game that might see a high volume of passes. We also spent up a bit at RB and for a top WR while spreading the rest of the money for potential under-the-radar options at other positions. We targeted favorable matchups and ultimately went with players that we could bank on seeing opportunities to produce, which is critical for cash games.

Week 9 Yahoo Fantasy Football: NFL DFS picks for cash games
QB Jared Goff, Rams @ Saints ($39). The top three QB options this week all fall into the $39 price range, but I wanted to grab one of the top-priced guys because their matchups are all incredible. In cash game formats, that matters. I was between Goff, Cam Newton (vs. Bucs), and Patrick Mahomes (@ Browns), but I settled on Goff because he has both an easy matchup and in a game that is most likely to turn into a shootout. The Saints are good against the run, meaning that Goff will have to pass often to keep pace with Drew Brees and the Saints offense. He should be in for a multi-score game, so the game script alone was enough to plug Goff into my starting lineup.
RB Kareem Hunt, Chiefs @ Browns ($33). Hunt has a nice matchup against the Browns defense. The Browns have struggled to contain three-down backs this year and have given up massive games to Melvin Gordon and James Conner (twice). Hunt profiles similarly to those two and has averaged 137.3 scrimmage yards over the last three games to go along with five scores. He could have a field day against the Browns, so we’re willing to pay up for him while also saving on spending up for Todd Gurley at the positional ceiling.
WEEK 9 DFS CASH LINEUPS: FanDuel | DraftKings
RB Isaiah Crowell, Jets @ Dolphins ($18). With Bilal Powell now out for the season, Crowell is going to get virtually all the carries for the Jets. Trenton Cannon will mix in a bit, but he’ll be in as more of a pass-catcher than anything else. Considering that the Dolphins are allowing the fourth-most fantasy points per game to RBs, Crowell could be in for a big week. Miami was just gashed by Lamar Miller, so if the Jets want a chance to do the same thing, they’ll lean on Crowell to help move their offense. He’s well worth $18, as he could pay off nicely if he has a TD, and at the very least, he’ll have the opportunity to score.
WR Robert Woods, Rams @ Saints ($30). Per usual, I was looking to stack a top WR with my QB, and Woods was easily the best option. With pricing tight on the top three Rams receivers, Woods provides the best value in cash games. He has seen at least seven targets in four straight games, and he is due to score after missing out on a TD in that entire time frame. Woods is always a threat to rack up yardage and targets, so I like the idea of pairing him with Goff and getting double points if they can frequently connect in this contest.
WR Paul Richardson, Redskins vs. Falcons ($18). Falcons-Redskins is an interesting matchup because the Falcons have been bad against WRs this year while the Redskins pass offense focuses more on the RBs and TEs as primary targets. That said, the Falcons won’t be able to cover all the Redskins weapons, and one of their receivers should break out. Richardson has seen five targets in three consecutive games, and he’s always a threat to break a long score because of his speed. The Redskins may look to get him the ball more than normal in such a good matchup, so he’s worth rostering as an $18 option in a terrific matchup. Spending down here also allows us to spend up at QB and RB, so this seems like smart budgeting.
WEEK 9 DFS GPP LINEUPS: Yahoo | FanDuel | DraftKings
WR DeVante Parker, Dolphins vs. Jets ($15). We’re not overreacting to Parker’s big game on Thursday night so much as we are investing in him. Parker had a 134-yard outburst against the Texans, and he could be in position to be even better against the Jets. The Jets give up a good amount of fantasy points to WRs, as their secondary has been banged up this year. The Dolphins don’t have a lot of receiving depth, so targets could be funneled to Parker. If he can get close to nine targets, as he did on Thursday, he’s definitely worth this $15 price.
TE O.J. Howard, Buccaneers @ Panthers ($19). Howard is starting to emerge as one of the best young playmakers at TE. The Panthers allow a ton of fantasy points per game to the position and have been in the top five all season. This is a great matchup in which to take advantage of Howard, and he could easily be the top performing TE this week.

FLEX Demaryius Thomas, Broncos vs. Texans ($14). This isn’t the most inspiring option, but for only $14, it’s worth the risk. Thomas hasn’t been producing a lot, but he is averaging seven targets a game and is getting a matchup with a Texans team that just struggled to cover DeVante Parker. If Thomas can score, he will easily pay off this low-ball price, so we’ll take a chance on him this week.
DEF Carolina Panthers vs. Buccaneers ($13). Ryan Fitzpatrick is going to be starting at QB once again for the Buccaneers. He’ll either be Fitzmagic or Fitztragic, and we’ll be happy to collect on any turnovers he commits.
