Lewis Hamilton has been rejected by Red Bull boss Christian Horner amid the British star’s ongoing contract uncertainty. Hamilton is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal at Mercedes, raising fears he could walk away to a rival squad.

However, it’s unlikely a move alongside Max Verstappen is on the cards with Horner rejecting any suggestion he could sign the 38-year-old. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen’s team is said to be ‘angry’ at comments made by Nico Rosberg in Jeddah.

Rosberg had claimed the Red Bull star was “weak” after not attending a team debrief after qualifying. However, it has since emerged team bosses told Verstappen to leave to continue his recovery from illness just days earlier.

Horner denies Lewis Hamilton link up

Christian Horner has shot down any suggestions Red Bull could secure the services of Lewis Hamilton.

The 49-year-old team boss admitted there was “no room” for Hamilton in the squad as they backed their current roster.

He told Sky News: “Look, I think what Lewis has achieved in Formula One is second to none.

“But we are very happy with the drivers that we have, they are committed as a pair not only for this season but next season as well. I can’t see where we would be able to accommodate Lewis.”

Verstappen unhappy with Rosberg

Max Verstappen and Red Bull are understood to be annoyed at former world champion Nico Rosberg after the German criticised the 25-year-old.

Rosberg branded the Dutchman “weak” after it emerged Verstappen had skipped the team debrief on Saturday.

He added: “That is not a good approach, not a good mentality this early in the season when the team has done such a brilliant job with the car and is working so hard. He could be a little bit more gracious, I would say.”

However, reports suggest Red Bull had asked Verstappen to go back to the hotel to rest.

The reigning champion had been suffering from a stomach bug in the run-up to the Jeddah weekend.
