Full F1 result as Hamilton wins and Ferrari endure disastrous Styrian Grand Prix

A week after a race of attrition that saw Valtteri Bottas win, nine cars retire and a McLaren finish on the podium, Lewis Hamilton returned to dominate Formula 1’s second race of 2020.

On the same track as the Austrian Grand Prix of seven days ago, Mercedes’ reigning champion led away from pole, only relinquishing his lead for a few laps during pit stops.

Bottas made it as Mercedes 1-2, with Red Bull's Max Verstappen completing the podium, despite some defiant defending against last week's victory in the closing laps.

But Ferrari’s already-miserable weekend got even worse when Charles Leclerc hit teammate Sebastian Vettel on the opening lap, forcing both cars out. The young Monegasque got high up on the curb on the opening lap, losing control and clouting his more experienced teammate.

McLaren's Lando Norris came home in fifth place, passing both Racing Points on the final lap.

There was no shortage of overtaking in the midfield, with McLaren, Renault and Racing Point all running close to each other for most of the race.
