Helmut Marko responds to talk ‘Horner wants him gone’ and discusses exit plan
Helmut Marko has dismissed claims that Red Bull team principal Christian Horner wants him out of the picture, stating that he will decide when his time in F1 is up, rather than anyone else within the organisation.
According to a report from Brazilian news outlet Globo, a political struggle has long existed between Horner and Marko with tensions boiling over in recent times since the death of Red Bull co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz.
As stated in the report, Horner, who has been the team principal at Red Bull throughout the entirety of their F1 operation’s existence, wants more power over the organisation moving forward and is hoping to oust Marko altogether.
However, when asked about these rumours by Austrian publication OE24, Marko responded: “No idea,” before clarifying his long-term future within the Red Bull organisation.

He continued: “There is no summit, I have a contract until the end of year next. When and how I stop, when it is over, I decide, and not, for example, Mr Horner.

“It is very reassuring that there is still something like loyalty and appreciation. Since our first conversation when Max was 15, there has been a special connection between us.”
