Martin Brundle refuses Machine Gun Kelly request in awkward Brazilian GP chat
Martin Brundle found himself forced to refuse Machine Gun Kelly’s requests in a bizarre grid walk interview at the Brazilian Grand Prix. The music artist was attempting to get the legendary broadcaster to do an air guitar impression live on air.
Brundle was navigating his trademark grid walk segment having already chatted with Aston Martin reserve driver Felipe Drugovich and Brazilian football legend Marta when he came across Machine Gun Kelly.
Unfortunately for the Sky Sports F1 broadcaster, the chat went atrociously with fans left cringing at the 33-year-old’s nonchalant attitude to the interview.
After introducing himself and asking how the music artist was doing, Machine Gun Kelly – whose real name is Colson Baker – stared blankly before stating: “I have no idea what you said, but thank you.”

Brundle then repeated his welcome to the grid, to which Baker said: “Thank you, thank you. Honoured to be here.” The British broadcaster then followed up by asking about MGK’s career.
Baker replied: “What are you saying?” He then added: “Huh, my career… I don’t think about my career. I don’t think about it.” He was duly wished good luck by Brundle, who went on to ask what he thinks about F1.
“This business is great,” Baker replied. “It’s loud, your life is on the line, that’s exciting. I was in the studio the other week and Lewis Hamilton was in the other studio. That was nice, yeah, yeah.”

The cringe-inducing interview looked to be coming to an end before MGK flicked the switch, asking Brundle “What do you think of my business?”
The rapper and singer then asked Brundle to do an air guitar live on the broadcast, prompting a hesitant response from the Sky Sports commentator who protested that he could only play the piano.
Unfortunately for him, Baker wasn’t taking that for an answer, asking him to join him in a duet doing an air piano. The rapper held up his end of the bargain before Brundle scrambled away to chat with Bernie Ecclestone.
