Melbourne have suspended key defender Steven May for one match after he was involved in a scuffle with utility Jake Melksham following a disagreement in Prahran on Sunday night.
Football manager Alan Richardson said in a club statement the Demons’ leadership group had endorsed the decision to suspend May from the Queen’s Birthday clash against Collingwood.
He said the pair was remorseful after their lighthearted disagreement became an altercation and May has acknowledged he should not have been drinking as he was out due to the concussion protocols.
“Steven and Jake will also complete community service through one of the club’s community partners to ensure they understand the responsibility and impact they have as role models within the community,” Richardson said.
