It remains to be seen as to whether the captain will play again but he will be hopeful of his side going further in the World Cup, allowing for him to return and challenge for the trophy in his home nation.
Speaking after the injury, France’s head attack coach Laurent Labit revealed that the captain would stay with the team to help them try and lift the trophy for the first time.
‘Antoine stays with us, everyone will be together,’ Labit revealed.
‘We will do as we have always done with short-term injuries in hoping that the opinion of the surgeon is positive for Antoine and us.
‘The specialist will give the verdict and Antoine will make the decision.
‘We will respect that. We can’t think too far ahead.’
With the 26-year-old now having surgery, it remains to be seen as to how long he will be sidelined for.
