Perr Schuurs has made his thoughts on a transfer to Liverpool clear in the wake of Ajax’s 1-0 defeat on Merseyside in the Champions League. The young centre-back impressed for the visitors and ensured the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota endured a rare off night under the Anfield lights.
It was yet another mature display from Schuurs, who also caught the eye in Liverpool’s 1-0 win on matchday one in Amsterdam.
He is the latest talent off the Ajax academy conveyor belt, who already looks comfortable against world-class opposition after holding his own against the Reds.
Unfortunately for Schuurs, he still ended up on the losing side after a rare mistake from Andre Onana gifted Curtis Jones a second-half winner.
It’s easy to see why Schuurs has drawn comparisons to former Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt, who coincidentally, is just three months older than his successor.

Speaking after last night’s game, Schuurs stood up for his goalkeeper before issuing an emphatic response to speculation that Liverpool were interested in signing him.
He told SBS6: “Onana is a fantastic goalkeeper. A mistake is bound to happen for each player.
“Interest from Liverpool in me? I am not busy with that. I want to win trophies with Ajax first and stay here for a couple of seasons.”
Schuurs was clear that he wants to stay at Ajax and continue his development at the heart of Erik ten Hag’s defence, after arriving from Fortuna Sittard in 2018, where he played in the same team as Norwich’s Todd Cantwell.
He is valued at around £27million and Dutch reports claim Ajax would be prepared to sell at that price.

Liverpool have been attributed with interest in recent weeks, as they prepare to bring in defensive reinforcements in January.
Jurgen Klopp has already lost Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez to long-term injury with both expected to miss the majority of the 2020/21 campaign.
The Reds now have just one recognised first-team centre-back, in the form of Joel Matip.
Fabinho has shown he can slot in and step up to the task but he’s had injury problems himself after recently recovering from a hamstring problem.
Liverpool could move for RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano in the January transfer window.
The Frenchman has been identified by Liverpool’s recruitment team as a potential option.
However, his new £38million clause does not come into play until next summer, meaning any potential buyer would have to pay around £50m to prise him away from Leipzig mid-season.
Schalke’s Ozan Kabak has also been linked with the Premier League champions.
