Manchester United have suffered a fresh FA Cup Final blow after Alejandro Garnacho’s decision to play for Argentina in the Under-20 World Cup.
United booked their place against Manchester City in the competition’s first-ever all-Manchester final with a penalty shoot-out victory over Brighton on Sunday.
They now face their city rivals at Wembley on June 3rd, looking to make it a cup double after already winning the Carabao Cup earlier this season.
However, they now look set to be without their teenage star, because the knockout stages of the Under-20 tournament are scheduled to take place the same weekend.
The finals kick-off on May 20th and according to Argentinian journalist Damian Villagra, Ganarcho has made himself available for Javier Mascherano’s squad.

Villagra tweeted: ‘Alejandro Garnacho’s decision is to come and play the World Cup for the Argentina National Team.’
Garnacho decision to play for his country is yet to be confirmed by either Argentina or Manchester United, with the teenager still sidelined with an ankle injury that has seen him on the sidelines since March.
However, the 18-year-old posted an image to Instagram last week suggesting he’s on the road recovery, showing him back wearing his boots for the first time since the injury.
United manager Erik ten Hag also confirmed earlier this month that he was optimistic that Garnacho would return to first-team action before the end of the campaign.

But a return to full fitness could also mean that the Argentinian will opt to play for his country, meaning he would miss the final two Premier League games as well as the FA Cup showpiece.
Ten Hag has already had to contend with injuries to defensive duo Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, with Martinez already ruled out for the rest of the season.
There’s also concerns over the fitness of Bruno Fernandes following pictures of the Portuguese star’s in a protective boot surfaced online after Sunday’s semi-final victory.
Garnacho has become an integral part of Ten Hag’s squad this season, making 29 appearances and scoring four goals for the Red Devils.
However, former Liverpool midfielder Mascherano, now in charge of Argentina’s Under-20 team is also a big fan of the attacker, who has netted four goals in five appearances and was named in his preliminary squad for the tournament.
