New Inter Milan signing Romelu Lukaku embraced his new manager Antonio Conte after completing his £73million move from Manchester United.

Conte tried to sign the Belgium international for Chelsea two years ago but was unsuccessful.

In his first interview with Inter, Lukaku said the Italian coach’s presence was a big factor in him movie to Serie A.

The striker said: ‘For me he is the best manager in the world. He is somebody that can make players better all the time. You can see his record.’ 

Lukaku was also handed Mauro Icardi’s No 9 shirt following his move from Old Trafford. 

Icardi was stripped of the captaincy at Inter last season after a row over his contract and Conte’s side want to get rid of him. 

According to Calciomercato, the rumour remains of an exchange between Juventus forward Paulo Dybala and Icardi.

Lukaku has completed a £73million move to Inter Milan from Manchester United

Maurizio Sarri’s side would only accept this deal towards the end of the summer and would demand a cash sum on top of Icardi’s signature. 

Napoli and Roma are also chasing Icardi, according to Corriere dello Sport. 

Icardi’s replacement Lukaku was delighted to complete a move to the Nerazzuri.

‘Inter were the only club I wanted, because Inter is Not For Everyone,’ he said. ‘I’m here to bring the Nerazzurri back to the top.’

The forward also posted a thank you message to his former club Manchester United onto social media on Thursday night, it read: ‘To everyone involved with Manchester United – from the board to the manager and his staff, the players, and the fans. Thank you and good luck for the future.’ 

Fans in England can purchase Lukaku’s shirt via Inter’s official store but it will set you back £103.
