Argentinian DJ denies giving Lionel Messi Covid after receiving death threats

Argentinian DJ Fer Palacio has denied giving Lionel Messi coronavirus after the PSG star was snapped next to him whilst holidaying in his homeland over the Christmas period.

The 31-year-old has received death threats on social media with trolls accusing him of infecting Messi with the virus.

Fer Palacio shared an Instagram photo of the pair together at an event last Wednesday with the Ligue 1 leaders confirming on Sunday that Messi is undergoing a self-isolation period in his hometown Rosario after testing positive for Covid-19.

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner was pictured enjoying the winter break in Argentina with PSG's next fixture not scheduled until January 3rd in the Coupe De France.

But now the DJ has taken to social media to deny the claims he infected Messi, stating a negative test result proves he is not contagious

He said on Instagram: "I just woke up and they [Messi fans] sent me a lot of messages.

"I am a trend on Twitter because Messi tested positive for Covid and they relate it to the fact that I infected him.

"They have even called me 'murderer' by messages, very bad vibes.

"I did a test because I have to travel to Uruguay and I do not have Covid."

As well as Messi, three other PSG players have received positive test results for coronavirus with team-mates Juan Bernat, Nathan Bitumazala and Sergio Rico also entering periods of self-isolation.

Mauricio Pochettino has not yet commented on when Messi will return to action, though it is believed their Ligue 1 fixture against Lyon on January 9 will come too soon for the 34-year-old.
