Arsenal are facing a huge loss this summer in the shape of Nicolas Pepe after instructing his agent to find him a new club this summer. The Ivory Coast international cost the Gunners a club-record fee worth £72million back in 2019.
However, it is unlikely that Arsenal will be able to recoup anywhere near that fee as they prepare to take a massive loss on the transfer. The winger has been firmly shut out of the squad and has been limited to cameo appearances from the bench.
Mikel Arteta prefers Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Gabriel Martinelli as his forward options, which leaves Pepe on the fringes. The 26-year-old has started just five times in the Premier League, scoring one time.
In fact, Pepe has managed just three goals in all competitions all season in a miserable campaign for the forward. A transfer away looks certain this summer after he hired a new agent, Football London report.
And one of the first pieces of business that he has demanded of his new representative is to find him a new club in the window. Arteta would not stand in his way, though, and is happy for the club to entertain bids for the ex-Lille star.

However, whether anyone would come close to the £72m that was forked out in 2019 would be extremely unlikely. His market value is just £27m right now – and even that feels like a long shot.
There is some good news, though, with the Gunners already lining up a suitable replacement in the form of Gabriel Jesus. The Manchester City is eyeing a way out after the signing of Erling Haaland.
The Brazilian had already struggled for game-time at the Etihad and the impending arrival of the 21-year-old will only further force him down the pecking order. Arteta knows the forward well from his time coaching at City and sees him as the ideal target as he looks to bolster his strike force.
