Arsenal fans aim dig at Man Utd star after Folarin Balogun’s goal against Molde

Folarin Balogun has been lapping up the plaudits after he scored his first goal Arsenal against Molde in the Europa League on Thursday. Arsenal fans have been relishing finally seeing the England youth international in action, and compared him to a rival forward who has also been making waves.

Arsenal fans have aimed a huge dig at Manchester United youngster Mason Greenwood after Folarin Balogun’s goal against Molde on Thursday night.

Balogun, 19, scored with his first touch in just his second appearance for the senior side.

The England U20 striker has stirred up a lot of excitement amongst Gunners fans in recent weeks, after making his debut against Dundalk in October.

And after clinching his first strike for Mikel Arteta’s men, the Emirates faithful are making some big claims about the New York-born forward, who was in fine form for the reserve side last season.

Drawing a direct comparison with United teenager Greenwood, numerous Arsenal supporters made the bold statement that Balogun not only has more potential than the Red Devils star, but was already “clear” of him.

“Balogun is a bigger prospect than mason Greenwood,” one wrote.

While a second added: “Not saying balogun is better but he did outscore greenwood in the pl2.”

“Balogun is clear of greenwood and it’s not even close,” added a third.


“Balogun outscored the likes of Mason Greenwood at youth level,” another tweeted. “A goal with his second touch of the evening. He’s an exceptional talent.”

“Balogun is better than Greenwood and rashford on his debut he scored a goal from his first touch and also it the fastest 37 sec boy is a magician,” a daring fifth shared.

Another tweeted: “Arsenal won and the world is happy. Balogun is better than Greenwood and Pereira combined. That is it. That is the tweet.”

Arteta said after the win that Balogun had endured a few testing months recently after being linked with moves to Brentford and Aston Villa.

“He had some difficult months with all the speculation around him, he’s handled the situation in a really mature way.

“He wants to stay, we want him to stay. We gave him the opportunity and he took it straight away.”

Arsenal are back in action on Sunday when they host Wolves in the late kick off (7:15pm).
