Arsenal pursue Trippier, Torreira to Fiorentina and Willian eyes Brazil return

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is still looking to strengthen his struggling side by signing a right-back and selling a number of fringe players.

The Gunners are two games into their Premier League campaign and appear even weaker than the team that finished eighth last season, despite splashing well over £100million this summer.

The arrival of young players Ben White, Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Aaron Ramsdale is clearly an indication that Arsenal are planning for the future.

But Arteta and technical director Edu have already received criticism by those believing the money should have been spent more astutely on immediate improvements.

With Arsenal still looking to make changes, Daily Star Sport has taken a look at the latest transfer news below.

Gunners reignite Trippier pursuit

Arsenal are reportedly ready to reignite their interest in Atletico Madrid full-back Kieran Trippier.

The club are eager to upgrade in the right-back position and are willing to sell Hector Bellerin to make way, but Atletico’s £34million valuation of the England international has presented a stumbling block.

The former Tottenham Hotspur man, 31, has less than year on his contract and has not started for Diego Simeone in either of the two La Liga matches, meaning Arsenal could tempt the Spanish club to sell.

Atletico are believed to only be interested in receiving Alexandre Lacazette or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a part-exchange deal.

Torreira to Fiorentina

Do you think Arsenal have enough quality to to secure European football this season? Let us know in the comments section.

Lucas Torreira travelled to Italy where he completed his medical on Tuesday ahead of joining Fiorentina on loan.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims the midfielder, 25, turned down an offer to join Eintracht Frankfurt to return to Italy where he excelled prior to his move to north London in 2018.

The Gunners will receive a reported €1.5million in loan fees for the Uruguayan, whose is unlikely to feature for the club again.

Willian’s Brazil return

Out-of-favour winger Willian is set to return to his home country Brazil amid strong interest from Corinthians.

Various sources claim there is a strong likelihood that the 33-year-old will leave the Emirates after Corinthians made their proposal.

The Gunners are desperate to free up Willian’s wages by letting him leave on a free only a year after he joined, while the player is also ready to leave.
