Arsenal have stepped up their interest in Norwich City star Emiliano Buendia if recent reports are to be believed. Arsenal are claimed to have made a £30million offer for Buendia, who was voted the Championship player of the season. However, Aston Villa have also matched the bid.
Buendia scored 15 goals and registered 16 assists in 39 Championship appearances this season as the Canaries got promoted back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Last week, Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber claimed they would have to receive a club-record fee to sell the likes of Buendia.
The highest fee Norwich have ever received for a player is £25m, when Ben Godfrey moved to Everton last summer.
“If we do sell one, it’s going to be a club record deal,” Webber said.

“It’s probably going to start with a number three in front of it.
“That will give us great opportunities to maybe make the whole better as well. We’re really relaxed on that front.”
However, The Sun now claims Norwich want as much as £40m for the Argentina international.
Arsenal have a number of jerseys available for Buendia if he were to join and Express Sport has looked at the most likely options.

With Dani Ceballos leaving the club, the No 8 jersey is available again.
Ceballos will not be returning to Arsenal following his two seasons on loan at the Emirates.
Buendia may fancy a more ‘attacking’ number though, with the No 8 sometimes reserved for a more box-to-box type midfielder.
The 24-year-old is yet to wear the number throughout his career.
Buendia may have to fight with Emile Smith Rowe for the No 10 jersey.
The No 10 is up for grabs after Mesut Ozil’s departure in the January window.
Smith Rowe may have his eye on the shirt after becoming a key member of Mikel Arteta’s squad in the second half of last season.
Buendia wore the No 10 a number of times in Getafe’s B team as well as for the Argentina under-20 side.
Arsenal confirmed on Thursday that Martin Odegaard is returning to Real Madrid following his loan at the club.
Arsenal still want Odegaard to return but it remains to be seen if that can happen this summer.
The Norwegian wore the No 11 during his spell in north London which means it is now available.
Buendia has worn the No 17 throughout his time at Norwich and also when he was on loan at Cultural Leonesa.
However, the shirt is currently held by Cedric Soares who still has three years remaining on his contract.
Cedric is unlikely to leave Arsenal so Buendia may have to put up with something different on his back.
If Smith Rowe does take the No 10 then that would make No 32 available.
Buendia wore 32 during two of his seasons at Getafe between 2014 and 2016.
Arsenal may prefer for him to have a higher squad number but did allow Granit Xhaka to move from 29 to 34 a couple of years ago.
