Arsenal star Folarin Balogun sends firm transfer message to Mikel Arteta

Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun has sent a firm message to Mikel Arteta regarding his future at the club. The striker scored his first international goal for the USA on Sunday and was swiftly asked about his plans for next season.

Balogun only opted to play for USA last month after snubbing England. However, the New York-born star is already off the mark for his country.

He made his debut in the 3-0 win over Mexico on Thursday before scoring in the CONCACAF Nations League final victory over Canada three days later. Balogun is coming off the back of a successful loan spell in France with Reims.

He scored 22 goals in all competitions for the Ligue 1 club. Teams from across Europe have been linked with his signature, with his path back at Arsenal potentially blocked.

Speaking after the victory over Canada, Balogun was adamant he will not be going out on loan again. However, he is unsure where he will be at the end of the window.

Balogun told Yahoo: “What I can say is that I definitely won’t go on loan again. I’m not sure on the discussions that are going to take place, I’m not sure what’s going to happen.

“But I’m just committed to now, I try to stay present. I obviously want to enjoy the moment with my team and my family.”

Balogun joined Arsenal as a youngster after moving to England from the USA. He has made 10 first-team appearances for the club to date, scoring two goals.

Arsenal’s new kit for 2023/2024 is a stylish twist on a classic as it reinvents that mid-1990s vibe. A truly modern-looking shirt with a homage to the past, the Nike kit also includes a nod to the club’s iconic Invincible’s side in the finer details while catching the eye with the lightning bolt motif

There are still two years remaining on his contract at Arsenal. However, the likes of AC Milan and Inter Milan are interested in taking him to Italy.

Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah are the two other recognised strikers in Arteta’s squad. The potential arrival of Chelsea star Kai Havertz would only make Balogun’s task of becoming a first-team regular tougher.

Meanwhile, the 21-year-old admits he is surprised by the talent of the USA team after his goal. He added: “It’s amazing. It’s amazing. I mean, it’s a dream scenario for me. To be here now, the transition is amazing. I’m just overwhelmed with delight.

“I think the thing that surprised me the most was just the actual talent in this group. I think there’s so many players who are going to go on to have top careers, who are all so young, including me.”
