Porto star Pepe is reportedly in talks over a move to the Premier League. The Brazilian has previously been rumoured to be a target for Arsenal and he could be the ultimate utility man for Mikel Arteta.
Pepe has often been linked with a switch to England since joining Porto in 2021. Arsenal were credited with interest as recently as April and a potential summer move was mooted.
The Gunners have spent over £200million on four new signings in this window. However, Arteta has refused to rule out any further additions.
The anterior cruciate knee ligament injury suffered by new signing Jurrien Timber has seen Arsenal explore potential replacements on the market. Arteta has also been open to adding a new right-sided attacker to his squad to lessen the burden on Bukayo Saka.

Pepe could be a player to provide cover in a number of roles if Arsenal push through with their interest. Goal claims that Porto are negotiating the sale of the 26-year-old to an unnamed Premier League club.
The price of a potential deal is not reported but his former club Gremio would be in line for 12.5 per cent of any sale if it exceeds a total price of £12.8million. Pepe has built a reputation of extreme versatility.
He has played in numerous positions during his career so far but has predominantly featured in wide areas. According to transfermarkt.co.uk, Pepe played at right-back more than any other position last season.
However, he also featured regularly as a right or left winger. Pepe has played in all three of Porto’s matches so far this season and has played in a different position in each game.

In the Portuguese Super Cup clash against Benfica, Pepe operated as a right-back as his side lost 2-0. On the opening day of the league season, he started the match against Moreirense in a No 10 role, before playing as a right-sided midfielder in the 2-1 win over Farense on Sunday.
Pepe could prove to be a valuable player if Arsenal were to make their move. Arteta currently doesn’t have a winger comfortable of playing on the right other than Saka.
Reiss Nelson signed a new long-term deal earlier in the window but played his best football off the left last season. Pepe would also give another option at right-back for the Gunners.
Pepe has made 100 appearances for Porto in total. He has scored 11 goals and registered 16 assists in that time.
