Emile Smith Rowe has claimed that Arsenal have their own Bernardo Silva as the 21-year-old raved about two of the Gunners’ new signings. Mikel Arteta has brought four new players to the Emirates this season in Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos and Matt Turner.
Silva was named in the PFA Team of the Year last season and has been one of the key cogs in Pep Guardiola’s system at Manchester City, but Smith Rowe believes that Arsenal may have found their own version in another Portuguese playmaker.
“He’s [Vieira] very similar [to Silva],” Smith Rowe said. “He’s a very good passer of the ball, his left foot is very good and he likes to create goals and score them himself. I’ve already played against him at international level, so I can’t speak highly enough of him, and the fans should be really excited.
“At the Euro Under-21s, they [Portugal] beat us 2-0 and he was unbelievable in that game.” Arsenal spent £34.2million on Vieira and then further dipped into the transfer market to take Silva’s former team-mate, Jesus, to north London.

“He’s been fantastic since he came in,” Smith Rowe claimed regarding the Brazilian forward. “It feels like he’s been here for a couple of years. Everyone knows how good he is and we can’t wait to get started with him. Man City are a big club and they’ve won a lot recently. It would be good if he could bring that [winning] mentality and help us out.”
Another player with that same winning mentality who could be moving to Arsenal is Oleksandr Zinchenko, as the Ukrainian is set to leave Manchester City in search of regular football, similarly to Jesus. The 25-year-old could move to Arsenal in a £35m deal that would see him cover Kieran Tierney at left-back while also featuring in midfield.

Arsenal’s newly-dubbed Silva has admitted that he would like to follow in the footsteps of the Manchester City midfielder and how attracted he was to the possibility of playing in the Premier League with the Gunners.
“It’s the best league in the world,” Vieira told The Athletic. “England was always very attractive to me. Great Portuguese players have played here: Cristiano Ronaldo, Bernardo Silva, Bruno Fernandes, Joao Moutinho, Joao Cancelo. I want to follow them.
“I’m an offensive player. I like to make the last pass, and to help team-mates to score. And I like to score goals too. The manager told me he knows I can play as a midfielder — No 8, No 10 — or on the wing, left side or right side. They know I am a versatile player. I prefer No 10. It’s my real position.”
