ARTETA CONFIRMS IMMINENT RETURN OF ‘MAIN SIGNING’
Arsenal’s “main signing” Thomas Partey is close to a return after a spell on the sidelines through injury.
The Gunners are expected to add a creative midfielder during the January transfer window, but Mikel Arteta has admitted Partey’s comeback will be a welcome boost.
“We are in January and I think he’s played two and a half games. That’s all and he was our main signing. We’ve been missing him,” said Arteta. “He brings something different to the team, he’s a player with an enormous talent.
“But as well someone that can transform the team the way we want. It’s great if we can have him, keep him healthy and I think he will contribute in a really positive way.”
FORMER EVERTON WINGER REVEALS ARSENAL ‘DREAM’
Ex-Everton winger Henry Onyekuru has admitted he wanted to play for Arsenal before arriving in the Premier League in 2017.
The Nigeria international spent two years at Goodison Park before leaving for Monaco in 2019, and is currently on loan at Galatasaray.
“The first dream is to play in the Premier League, it may not have worked out at Everton but I have no regrets about it,” Onyekuru told BBC Africa.
“When I received offers from top clubs in England I knew back then that I needed a work permit to play. That it didn’t happen then has nothing to do with my talent but red tape that’s beyond my control.
“I really wanted to go to Arsenal because I spoke to some people there as I was very young then.
“It was obvious that I was not going to play without a UK work permit. So, I went to Everton and played in the Champions League through a loan move to Anderlecht.”
