Arsenal urged to replace four players with new signings after needless Dani Ceballos deal
That is the view of ESPN FC pundit and Liverpool legend Steve Nicol.
Ceballos became Arsenal’s second signing of the transfer window on Thursday, joining on a season-long loan from Real Madrid.
He was then joined by young French defender William Saliba, who will spend the upcoming campaign back at Saint-Etienne on loan.
But Nicol does not think the arrival of attacking midfielder Ceballos was needed.

He instead claims Arsenal need two centre-backs, a full-back and a new goalkeeper.
They are still in for Celtic’s £25million-rated left-back Kieran Tierney.
But Nicol says the Gunners need more than that to compete in the upcoming campaign.
“I’m a little surprised to be honest with you,” Nicol said of the Ceballos deal.
“For me Ceballos plays exactly where [Mesut] Ozil would play.
“Does that suggest that Ozil’s just not going to play? I’m not so sure.
“I would also say that, in my humble opinion, Arsenal, everything that they need is at the back.
“Arsenal didn’t have a problem scoring goals last season, they had a problem keeping them out.
“Particularly the back four, they need two centre-backs and they need at least another full-back and I’m not so sure about the goalie.
“In the middle of the park I’m not sure they have the strength when it comes to defending against the better sides.
“So Ceballos is a good player, yes, it’s always nice to bring good players in.
“But really? When you don’t really need him.”
