Arsenal’s expected XI vs Fulham as Gabriel decision alerts FPL bosses

Arsenal are aiming to become the first team to win three Premier League matches this season when they play hosts to Fulham. Mikel Arteta will be forced into at least one change following Takehiro Tomiyasu’s red card against Crystal Palace. Express Sport looks at the starting XI Arteta is expected to field at the Emirates.

Goalkeeper – Ramsdale

Aaron Ramsdale only kept three home clean sheets in the Premier League last season. He registered his first shut-out of this campaign in Monday’s win at Palace.

The England international now has David Raya breathing down his neck. Ramsdale knows a mistake or two could see the new signing leapfrog him as No 1.

Defence – Partey, White, Saliba, Zinchenko

Arsenal’s new-look defence has seen Gabriel drop to the bench for the first two games of the season. Thomas Partey has started at right-back, with the freedom to drift into midfield.

Tomiyasu replaced the injured Jurrien Timber last week but is now set to miss a game through suspension. That could see Oleksandr Zinchenko make his first start since May 7 after his cameo off the bench at Selhurst Park.

Gabriel again may have to settle for a spot on the bench, which will surely alert FPL managers into transferring him out next week if they haven’t already done so. Ben White and William Saliba are the preferred pairing currently for Arteta.

Midfield – Rice, Odegaard, Havertz

There is unlikely to be any change to the midfield barring any late injury concerns. Declan Rice has settled in nicely and was player of the match last time out.

Martin Odegaard has seemingly taken over penalty duties from Bukayo Saka and got off the mark in confident fashion. Havertz has underwhelmed some onlookers but is doing the job Arteta has asked of him.

Attack – Saka, Nketiah, Martinelli

Gabriel Jesus has rejoined training this week following his knee surgery. Images showing that he was in full contact training suggest he is not far away from a return to action.

However, he would unlikely be thrown straight in from the start if he is deemed fit enough to play on Saturday. A front three of Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Martinelli is more than likely, with the latter still waiting for his first goal of the campaign.
