Arsenal’s Gabriel shows off brand new smile after having teeth punched out

Arsenal’s battle-hardened defender Gabriel Magalhaes has taken to Instagram to show off his new teeth after losing them against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

The Gunners were lacklustre throughout their Premier League visit to the Amex and were extremely lucky to come away with a 0-0 draw, but their centre-back was not quite so lucky.

Gabriel, 23, was a titan at the back for Mikel Arteta’s side and one of the few bright sparks, though he was on the receiving end of a clattering by Brighton pair Robert Sanchez and Lewis Dunk while rising for a header which knocked out his teeth.

The Arsenal man continued on but only after locating the stray tooth and handing it over to one of the coaches on the touchline.

And Gabriel has since posted an update on Instagram revealing that he made a trip to the dentist in order to get the issue sorted immediately.

He posted a four-part story revealing his new gnashers and showing his appreciation towards his dentist with the caption “Thank you so much man.”

The incident bizarrely occurred for the second time for the Brazilian while facing Brighton, having lost a tooth on the final day of last season against the Seagulls.

Do you think Gabriel has been Arsenal's best defender so far this season? Let us know in the comments section.

On that occasion the grounds staff and Arsenal coaches had to search the Emirates grass after the match in order to find his knocked-out tooth.

Arsenal and Gabriel will be hoping for a more seamless outing in their home clash against Crystal Palace following the international break.

The Gunners have struggled in front of goal this season, scoring only five which is joint second-worst in the league.

Palace meanwhile have conceded 11, indicating Arteta’s side could have greater joy in trying to break down the opposition on October 18.
