Arsenal defender Rob Holding is reportedly set to reject the chance to join West Ham United on a season-long loan deal.
The Hammers had proposed forking out around £5m to bring Holding to the London Stadium but it appears the player is not interested in the move, with the Sun reporting that he wants to secure a regular spot in the Arsenal first team under manager Mikel Arteta.
Holding was set to join Newcastle on loan earlier in the window but that move fell through after David Luiz, Pablo Mari, Calum Chambers, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Shkodran Mustafi all suffered injuries.
As a result, Arteta pulled the plug on the move and Holding has since started Arsenal's Community Shield win over Liverpool and their opening day win over Fulham.
Speaking to BT Sport after the Fulham win, Arteta said: "I said to him, change your mind because you are not going anywhere. Rob is another one that stands for every value that we want at the football club.
West Ham want Chelsea outcast included as part of Declan Rice transfer
"He had a really difficult time but he trained and pursued his dream to play for this football club. Now why would I have to let him go? You are already playing so what else do you want?"
The news will come as yet another blow to the Hammers' attempts to strengthen their backline, with Brighton's Shane Duffy opting to join Scottish champions Celtic and Burnley desperate to keep hold of James Tarkowski.

Manager David Moyes has been open about the need to sign a new centre-back, saying: "I think that defensively we have been short of numbers and the competition that I want so that has been a problem.
"If we get an injury or suspension then we will be really short. We are trying to get players in. Let me tell you, there are plenty getting offered.
"We're trying to get ones in who will have a similar impact to Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen, people we feel can go forward with us. But yes, we want to add to that department."
