Barcelona are looking to offload Antoine Griezmann in a swap deal with Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix.
Ronaldo Koeman's side are interested in a deal for Felix and failed with an offer to take the 21-year-old on loan on Monday.
Atletico knocked that proposal back, but have returned on Deadline Day with a new offer involving Griezmann.
According to ESPN, Felix's agent, Jorge Mendes, is working as an intermediary, while sources close to the Griezmann reportedly say a deal is not "impossible."
But with just hours remaining until the summer transfer window slams shut, time is against Barcelona and Atletico.
The proposed swap deal involving Griezmann isn't the first time the two clubs have attempted to negotiate this summer.
Barca and Atletico previously held talks over a swap involving the Frenchman and Saul Niguez, who has been constantly linked with a move away.
Those talks didn't amount to anything due to a disagreement in the valuation of the two players.
Back then, Griezmann was understood to be open to returning to the club he left for Barcelona in 2019 for a fee of around €120million.
The 30-year-old has never quite hit the same heights at the Nou Camp as he did at the Wanda Metropolitano, struggling to establish himself in the shadow of Lionel Messi.

Messi is now a Paris Saint-Germain player, but Griezmann's future doesn't appear to be any more secure after fans blamed him for the shock departure of the Argentine.
Atletico coach Diego Simeone is also understood to be keen to work with Griezmann again.
The pair worked together for five years during the striker's previous stint in Madrid, with the French ace scoring 133 goals in 257 games and helping Atletico reach the Champions League final, where they lost to fierce rivals Real.
Felix, meanwhile, was signed by Atletico as Griezmann's replacement but his time in the Spanish capital can hardly be classified as a roaring success.
The 21-year-old, who cost €126million from Benfica, has scored 19 goals in 76 games.
