Brighton defender Tariq Lamptey has suffered another injury setback and will miss this weekend’s game with Leicester.

The full back has not played since December due to a hamstring problem, but was expected to be in contention against the Foxes on Saturday.

However, manager Graham Potter revealed his star defender will now have to see a specialist after failing to recover fully.

‘Tariq won’t be fit, he had a little setback this week and we need to get to the bottom of that,’ Potter said during a press conference on Thursday.

‘It’s a problem with his hamstring. He’s seeing a specialist and he’s not available for the weekend.’

Lamptey had returned to full training after missing 13 games since suffering a hamstring injury against Fulham in mid-December.

Potter had suggested that the former Chelsea youngster could be fit enough for the bench against West Brom last weekend, but he was not included in the Seagulls’ matchday squad.

The news comes as another blow for Brighton, who are 16th in the Premier League table having lost two and drawn two of their last four games.

They are just three points above the relegation zone, with Fulham sat 18th on 23 points and Newcastle in 17th with 26 points.
