Bukayo Saka and Dominic Calvert-Lewin set for England debuts in Wales clash

Bukayo Saka and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are set for their first senior starts in an experimental England line-up at Wembley.

England boss Gareth Southgate admits he is ready to try out some fresh faces in the Wales friendly before turning back to the more established line-up for the Nations League ties with Denmark and Belgium.

That means a remarkable opportunity for Arsenal teenager Saka, 19, who is set to play on the left side in midfield of a 3-4-3 formation with Southgate using a back three defence while in-form Calvert-Lewin gets a chance up front.

Calvert-Lewin has already got six goals in the Premier League this season while Conor Coady will play in the middle of a back three.

Nick Pope is set to start in goal for England as Southgate confirmed he is ready to experiment with the keepers but also heaped praise on Arsenal youngster Saka after this week’s training sessions.

Southgate said: “I’ve loved getting to know him this week, a really charming personality you can really see how excited he is by everything.

“Also he is an exciting player, we know he can play for or different positions already. He’s done the for Arsenal: wide left, wide right, wing back, left back.

"I think out and out left back at this level would be a little bit more difficult but any of those advanced positions he is more than capable.

“Our performance tomorrow isn't going to be perfect, we’ll have too may new players in who haven’t necessarily played together but i think theres a lot of exciting things they can do and we are excited to see them.

“This team might lack experience but it’s also an opportunity for a lot of young players.”
