Burnley 0-1 Manchester United player ratings: Bruno Fernandes shines

PLAYER RATINGS: Bruno Fernandes shines with winning goal for Manchester United, Jonny Evans impresses, but Rasmus Hojlund was starved of chances

Manchester United got their season back on track with a hard-fought point at Burnley. 

Bruno Fernandes split the hairs with a stunning first-time volley to put the visitors ahead on the stroke of half team.

From there, Erik ten Hag’s men held on to a precious victory which takes them into the top half of the Premier League table.

Burnley remain winless and narrow victories count for nothing on the points table, but it was a valiant effort from Vincent Kompany’s side.

Bruno Fernandes stook out thanks to a beautiful volley in the first half

James Trafford 7

The England under 21 hero was assured with his distribution and handling but could do nothing about Fernandes superb volley.

Connor Roberts 7

Supplied an excellent cross for Amdouni’s early header and helped to keep Rashford quiet as well as get forward to good effect.

Ameen Al Dakhil 7

Composed display from the centre back, comfortable with the ball at his feet and made a vital interception to deny Hojland.

Jordan Beyer 6

Beaten by the quality of Evans’ pass that led to Fernandes’ goal but otherwise solid defensively.

Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford performed well and could do nothing about the goal 

Charlie Taylor 7

Like his team-mates, his passing was precise and he played his part in a team performance that will encourage Vincent Kompany.

Josh Cullen 6

Neat and tidy in possession, got stuck in and always probing United.

Josh Brownhill 6

The Burnley captain kept his team ticking over with his usual hard-working midfield display.

Joey Gudmundsson 5

Bright start but had to limp off injured after 20 minutes and was replaced by Mike Tresor.

Aaron Ramsey 7

Supplied clever pass for Amdouni to hit the post and always a threat with his intelligent running.

Luca Koleosho 7

The jet-heeled winger gave both Dalot and Reguilon some anxious moments with his pace and skill.

Zeki Amdouni 7

Went close twice early on, first denied when Onana saved his header then when his shot hit the post.

Like Koleosho, the winger proved a tricky opponent.

Andre Onana made a fine save from Zeki Amdouni’s early header and looked confident

Diogo Dalot 6

Managed to keep his head and tread a disciplinary tightrope after being booked for tripping the elusive Koleosho early on.

Victor Lindelof 7

Emerging as United’s most reliable defender with another solid, unflustered show.

Jonny Evans 8

Impressive return for the experienced defender with a fine defensive display, a superb assist for Fernandes’ strike and even had a ‘goal’ disallowed.

Sergio Reguilon 6

Had some anxious moments keeping Koleosho quiet when he switched flanks but always willing to get forward and link with Rashford.

Casemiro 7

The Brazilian looked happier having McTominay to help him out in the engine room and was back to last season’s form.

Casemiro had a better game with Scott McTominay partnering him in midfield

Brought back to help out Casemiro and relished the physical battles to break up Burnley’s play.

Bruno Fernandes 8

Struck a technically superb volley to give United the lead on the stroke of half-time and was behind their best attacking work.

Hannibal Mejbri 6

The youngster showed plenty of energy and pace on only his second Premier League start and didn’t let United down.

Marcus Rashford 6

Worked hard and always a threat to Burnley with his pace cutting in from the left but didn’t get a clear sight of goal.

Rasmus Hojland 6

The striker was willing to put in the hard yards pressing Burnley’s defence but like Rashford he was starved of chances.
