Celtic lost the Old Firm derby to Rangers and it will now take an incredible comeback for them to win 10 titles in a row with their rivals a huge 19 points clear in the table. Neil Lennon’s side were on top throughout until Nir Bitton was sent off for the away side.
Alfredo Morelos was the wrong side of his opponent and would have been clear on goal but was taken out by Bitton.
It gave the referee no option but to send off the Celtic star and just moment later they were behind in the clash.
Joe Aribo got the slightest touch to a corner at the front post and that diverts the ball against the shoulder of Celtic skipper Callum McGregor.
The ball span in at the far post to give Rangers an unlikely win.
Liverpool: Gerrard pays tribute to Houllier
The result led to many fans calling for Lennon to be sacked with Rangers so far clear in the table.
One tweeted: “Please @CelticFC sack Lennon. He is virtually clueless tactically.”
Another added: “Only person to blame today is Lennon. He got us into the position that today was a must win for a chance at ten.
“Only transfer this window should be him oot and a new manager in.”
A third simply wrote: “Sack Lennon.”
Another exclaimed: “Sack Lennon TODAY!!!!”
One more said: “How is Neil Lennon still in a job?”
Ahead of the Steven Gerrard insisted the title race wasn’t over even if his side won.
“No, not at all,” he said. “I’d be very happy with the three points but I would remain balanced and humble with my feet on the ground.
“It’s January, there are many tough challenges ahead and hurdles we need to get over.
“So whatever the result is we will move forward in the best possible way. We obviously want to do all we can to try and take this opportunity.
“We want to stretch our lead, of course we do. But if we manage to do that then certainly no one will be getting carried away.”
Rangers are now 19 points clear in the table although Celtic do have three games in hand.
It would still take an almighty effort from Lennon’s side to make it 10 titles in a row.
