Chelsea ‘accelerate’ plan to sell six players as Todd Boehly finishes whirlwi…

Chelsea will reportedly ‘accelerate’ plans to offload a handful of first-team players as they close in on signing Michael Olise from Crystal Palace. The Blues have once again been the Premier League’s biggest spenders this summer by some margin following deals for Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo.

That outlay is set to increase even further with Chelsea triggering Olise’s £35million release clause. If the deal goes ahead, Olise will be Chelsea’s 25th signing in just 12 months with the club’s ownership group edging closer to £1billion spent on new players.

As well as the huge outlay on new signings, Chelsea have also been busy trimming down their squad this summer. The likes of N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Edouard Mendy, Kai Havertz and Mason Mount have all left with Chelsea going through a quick transformation.

They’ve already raised more than £200m in player sales, but Chelsea are hoping to cash in on even more following the deal for Olise. According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea are hoping to ‘accelerate’ plans to offload six players.

It’s claimed that Conor Gallagher is still being made available in the transfer market and could be pushed out the door. Caicedo’s arrival will likely push Gallagher out of Chelsea’s starting line-up with Romeo Lavia also set to challenge for a spot in midfield.

Romelu Lukaku, Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi are not currently in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans for the new season and are closing in on moves away from the club. Chelsea are also reportedly hoping to offload Trevoh Chalobah and Ian Maatsen.

But the Blues have rejected an approach from AC Milan for striker Armando Broja. The 21-year-old is still recovering from a long-term injury and is seen as a key part of Pochettino’s squad.

He will reportedly fight with Nicolas Jackson for a starting spot through the middle. Olise will come in to compete with Raheem Sterling, Mykhaylo Mudryk and Noni Madueke in the wide positions.

The France Under-21 international is expected to be Chelsea’s final transfer acquisition of the summer.
